Fact Number 5: History & Lineage
Gelato is a California strain from the bay area. The original lineage created by Cookie Fam Genetics is Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. It has inherited potency and taste from both parent strains.
There are several Gelato phenotypes available on the market. Most noticeable are Gelato #25, Gelato #33, Gelato #41, and Gelato #45. Gelato #33 is the most common and also goes by the name “Larry Bird”. Gelato #45 is extremely rare but thought to produce some of the highest THC of any strain currently on the market.
The strain we are smoking today is #31.
Fact Number 4: Positive vs Negative Effects
Recreationally, Gelato is a great strain to chill with friends or do low-key social activities. It starts with a cerebral head rush that hits you with an uplifted euphoria and focused energy. As the head high builds the body buzz will slowly wash over you, leaving you completely relaxed and calm with a sense of peace and well being. Gelato has known to improve concentration and boost energy.
As long as you aren’t a novice this strain’s high is head heavy and won’t leave you couch-locked. It makes conversation easy, while the calming effects of the bud can help keep any social stress or anxiety at bay. Novice consumers or those with a low tolerance may find this strain to be a little sedative. In high doses, this strain is known to make people feel dizzy.
Medically, Gelato is great for chronic aches and pains including headaches and migraines. Patients suffering from muscle spasms, chronic pain, inflammation and fatigue can all benefit from Gelato. It can also offer relief from anxiety, depression, PTSD and can be beneficial to those who struggle to fall asleep.
Some describe Gelato as having amplified psychedelic effects like time dilation and sound sensitivity.
Fact Number 3: Sativa vs Indica & THC/CBD Levels
Gelato is an Indica Dominant Hybrid at 55% Indica and 45% Sativa with an average THC at 20%.
Fact Number 2: Appearance, Smell & Taste
Gelato has a bold floral aroma with a ton of pungency. When smoked Gelato leaves behind a soft and creamy smell of lavender, berries and orange citrus
